In answer to your question, it was my attempt to capture the chaotic feelings of battle and seeing a comrade down. During my time in the army one of my buddies was shot and killed several feet away from me. This is kind of how it felt. To tell you the truth I have been kind of unhappy with the effect myself and may rework it.

If you rework the image, leave the medic and the wounded soldier clear. The blur of the background leaves it as the wirlwind of chaos around the two important parts of the pic. The soldiers.
