Description

Artmatic Voyager 1.1.2, Bryce 5 and Photoshop CS. I have a soft spot for the older Sci Fi magazine covers and the early work of Gray Morrow, Chris Foss, John Harris and Chesley Bonestall.

Great landscape and spaceship. The angle of the planet irritates me a bit.

We are all used to seeing a ringed planet in it's standard pose but there is no reason a view like this could not take place. I think the movie "Pitch Black" used an odd placement of a ringed worlds and I like that idea. I wanted to go completely vertical at first but settled on a slight off set. Such is the beauty or not of creating our own worlds. :-)

well done...I remember seeing some old scifi mag covers treating ringed planets in a similar fashion...

Excellent work. Nice space ship, great use of colour and lighting and a splendid sky. Not just the ringed planet but the star field and nebulousity (if that's a real word!) I've got no problem with the angle of the rings either...

Excellent image!. . . Vivid colors and impressive surface texture. Any planetary angle is possible in space! and yes!! "Pitch Black" had some large impressive ring world effects. OT - FYI- A prequel to PB will be released this summer, " The Chronicles of Riddick" - with an Xbox game to follow. . .and I read that Vin Diesel has started up his own video game company! BOT- (back on topic)- Love the image!!

First rate! I wonder if you could have created a terrain, and rendered the whole thing in Bryce with the ArtMatic sky as a PICT backdrop, and gotten a similar result.

I think it would be possible but it would have taken longer. I love Bryce but it's a bit slow on my home iMac so for awhile there I was building my ships in Bryce and compositing in Photoshop. I'm faster at creating worlds in Voyager these days. Thanks for the comment.

Very cool indeed. I think the exhaust plumes could use some work, but overall, excellent idea!

Magnificent image! Don't complain for the angle, it's a lot more original this way! My vote!
