Description

That was a good question (on the following image). You can see the walls a bit better in this view and compare them to the hotel a gauche. The walls look to be 2 - 2.5 storeys high. Maybe 30 feet. The gateway is dead center on the right edge with the round tower. That paved surface is the walk over the road. Maybe another 10 feet higher than the walls. Since we are back here, take a good look at the hotel. It has a moder extension with some odd architectural features along the roofline and going down the side: like a big S made of 'stone.' The gun embrasures on the ramparts are obvious as is the lack of artillery. Behind is what looks to be a brick school with a big white cross on it and above that is a church with two towers clad in that silver metal I referred to earlier on this tour. (OK, roofers, you can look now!) Anyhow. Several images were shot from that walkway across the gateway. The rampart to the left is actually a bend in the walls which continue down behind. This is where our path leads next. Enjoy; thanks for viewing.

Quebec City has to be one of the most fantastic places in North America... Too bad they lost the Nordiques hockey team...
