try lowering the gamma and using more natural colours,,,,,and if you want water to look good, make a large render and then resample it,,,,this works for the terrain also..

You are getting there, see you have worked on the layer settings. Atmosphere is good for sure. Made you a nice terrain also. Keep on adding layers for each colored selected just a few numbers off, for added depth. I add these under the primary color I am using sense the children can only go where the parent goes. Good Luck.

Good suggestions. Beautiful water! The sand is too yellow for realism, but helps make that wonderful water color.
