Description
Our Last Moonlit Night
It can't be right, the news I hear,
tommorow is not to be!
The moon will come, the end is near,
the hammer will strike at three.
Sunset was watched by all this eve,
the last is never the best.
But many said "I don't believe
our Earth can be laid to rest."
The moon can't fall, I heard one shout,
this is just a crazy dream!
They talked, they joked, they voiced their doubt,
"It's not fair!" I heard one scream.
The truth soon rose, high in the east,
it filled up half of the sky.
A great cold orb, a scary beast,
and people began to cry.
Yes, some where brave, and some where dumb
and one even sought a hole.
But most where frozen, thoughts turned numb,
as the winds began to blow.
Then lightning flashed, but sky's were clear,
the moon felt downhill to me.
Trees blew down, a person died near,
and nobody stopped to see.
The ocean left it's ancient bed
blanketing all in the path.
Old mountains split, the night flashed red
as lava unfurled it's wrath.
I pulled my lover close to me
and watched our last moonlit night.
One final kiss......the clock struck three,
the horizon, blinding light.

This combo was inspired by a nightmare a while back. Rendered in 3dfx and Corel Paint. If you find it disturbing, then I nailed it.

Oh what a chilling n graphic poem David..but i say BRAVO...awesome image to go with this poem..n it defnitely reminded me of how I'd want to spend my last hours with my love...but unfortunately it wasnt meant to b..cause my lifemate couldnt stand my pain...so I will miss him dearly but always love him for eternity..it just wasnt meant to be...Jalen

I really can't say anything to improve this piece. It was a little hard for me to see the "horror" because I thought the images and the art were beautiful. The poem did put it in to context for me, but I still didn't feel the sadness only the love. You are truly gifted David,thank you for shareing your heart. Linda

The dream was a lot more scary (and real) than I have the talent to depict. Witness to the end of the world shared with my wife, was more sad than romantic. Anyway, I tried. Thanks for the comments. Really appreciated. :^>

oh yea you nailed it for me however there's two sides to a coin the side I look at is there is no end only eternity beautiful poem and beautiful image just wish I was this talented (well in MY dreams perhaps ) "V"
