Description

Portrait of Joan Dark Credits: Wacom Tablet, PhotoShop 7, "How to draw Manga-Bodies and Anatomy" I wanted to try to make Joan "cuter" so I gave her a haircut and some new eyes. Actually, Shizuku was nice enough to give me some directions on how to make really good eyes. When I tried to put them on an "anime" character, they weren't quite right. I thought I would give Joan a makeover but couldn't figure out how to make somewhat realistic hair in a short period of time. I looked all over the net for a tutorial that would show me how to draw hair quickly but it seems hair is not easy or quick. It took me almost as long to develope her hair as it took to draw her this time (9 hours each). Using the method I developed for this pic, I can do her hair in about 15-20 minutes now. Anyway...what this amounts to in general is an experiment in "eyes" & "hair." Please let me know what you think. Thanks for viewing. Any comments, suggestions, and constructive criticism is welcome and encouraged.

Excerllent Job, Bob! L-O-V-E those eyes and nose. Great detail on the hair as well. Only complaint is that they loks too..stiff. You've done a LOT of detail to it, and that is excerllent and very frustrating, I know. Try softening it some. Select the Hair (use Magic Wand set at 100%), Lower the setting on the Blur Tool and Enlarge it enough to cover the thickness of the Lines of highlights in her hair. Now from the Lighted area, blur in the direction the hair flows. Only do Each area once. If it still looks stiff to you, go over it once again. But to be on the safe side, copy the Hair Layer and experimet with this there so you don't have to worry about screwing up what you currently have. You will loose detail, but having this much detail from the start only helps make it that more realalistic. Just noticed that you have lines for her neck's tenons (spelling?), but no ighlights or shadows for them. This area could use more detail to coinside with her beautiful face. But Other then that, I LOVE it.
