Description

I never do portraits, except for this one. When my step-sister was a little girl (1986) I saw a picture of a little girl in a magazine that looked exactly like her. I made a pencil drawing from it, and my whole family swore I had used Lynn as the model. Even Lynn thought it looked like her. I was happy with how it turned out. But I need to try doing a portrait again.

you use shading very well to bring out the dimension in what should be but isnt there in the whiteness of space. I'm such a cartoonist outlining stuff

This is terrific!..when I was growing up money was really short, my art supplies consisted of lead pencils, ballpoint pens, and paper gathered from piles of throw away or notebook paper. You learn to create images from the paper by seeing them first then simply covering up part the paper with the pencil or ink to "reveal" the image that was there all along....like magic!..

The style in this image reminds me a bit of turn of the century art nouveau for some reason. Very beautiful.
