Description

Thank you to Dinalt for this wonderful terrain! To get the full impact of the artistic statement I want to make, please click here: Charles-Marie Widor Organ Symphony No. 5 in f, fifth movement, Toccata. Then choose your favorite streaming method, and listen while you are reading what I have written about this image. I actually play this piece, so imagine that I am playing it for you as you read. Imagine yourself sitting on the banks of a river somewhere in Europe. It is early morning, and there is a thick fog, but a gentle breeze is blowing, and it is bringing you the sounds of an organ in the distance, coming from the cathedral. The sounds are swirling, swirling. The cathedrals of Europe provide us with a visual picture of something very important to me: the magnificence of God. My first experience with the realization that God is so magnificent that came in the context of listening to an organ inside a cathedral actually happened when I was sitting all alone in the chapel of Valparaiso University, Valparaiso, Indiana, except for the fact that one of the professors was also there, practicing on the organ. This cathedral has very different architecture from a gothic cathedral of Europe, but it has the same acoustics, and it has gorgeous stained glass windows. It is one of the few Lutheran cathedrals in existence. Comments in other languages welcome.

Have to give you a V on this one because it is just about # 1... The terrain is fantastic. Lighting is very well done. The story set up is needed to understand the picture. All fits perfectly...

Very peacefull mood. The picture fits perfectly to your story. A silent place with no hurry, so one can find back to himself or god.

Eine rst gelungene Komposition - der Hinweis mit der Musik ist grandios. Es gibt dem Bild neben der zeitlichen Ruhe noch die 5. Dimension des Hens! v

You did something magical with this terrain Pat - it looks gorgeous with that lighting. I agree that the Cathedrals of Europe are magnificent, and I think you can appreciate them whatever your religious beliefs. I'm lucky living in Britain, so many beautiful old Cathedrals & little country churches - I live near an 11th century church, and the terrain's modelled on Salisbury Cathedral, probably one of the most striking cathedrals I've seen. This one gets my vote, it's such a beautiful tranquil scene. V
