you should use more earth colors, We all started somewhere. keep at it and you will get better.

maybe the colours need desaturisation a little? This would make a more natural looking image. Also, the cloud shading needs work. I think a higher altitude and some playing with persistance values would improve this greatly. Good work, you're better than me when I started! And almost as good as I am now, about 2 years later, for that matter. Keep trying :)

i like this but its a little haphazard to be honest.I Know its lots of fun to chuck colours about and experiment but you have to think about the over all image.... i presume this is your first foray into 3d....its a good start so keep going, my first images were much the same.experimentation is great.terragen is great but also be aware that there are many other 3d packeges about. If u are wanting to get into 3d you can probably get a version of 4d cinema 6 or above for free from somewhere. It is a great package and a good starting point.goto maxoncomputer.com......the makers of 4d cinema there is everything you need to get a foot up into 3d.keep at it .....good luck luko:)

This is a good start. Now what you need to do is refine your surface. I agree with Simplicity and Seekerr. Tone down the colors and use more earth colors. Make a child of one color (say, brown, very dark green, reddish, or gray) and make children under that layer which are close in color to that layer. Make another child of the bottom layer in another color and do the same thing. Strata are handled through a plugin called SOPack. There should be a link to get it on the Terragen resources page. You'll also need to acquire strata strips. These are narrow images that determine the layer colors in the strata. The clouds look flat, so you should play with your atmosphere settings. You just need to play a lot, and look a lot, at photographs and Terragen renders, so that you train your eye to see what looks natural.
