Description

Sometimes depression flows like India Ink from a broken pen; a river of blackness, consuming the whole world. My deepest thanks to odeathoflife for the Anglepoise lamp. Once more, I am awed by the generosity of this community. Other things I used were Venetian blind room by Gerald Day (retextured by me), ashtray by 3DLands, Zippo lighter by Palladium17, Tobacco by Ralph, floor by Hawktoey, Marshall amp by Mattey, Guitar by Mask Da (retextured body by me) Photograph by I Vozari. I made the desk, drawing board and the stuff on there, including the artwork. I Sam's textures, pose and morphs, Woody's texture and pose, all the black ink, the pen and pencil and the lights. If I have missed anyone, my apologies. Feel free to step up and claim a credit. Thank you, as always, for taking a look.

This is amazing work, there's so much emotion captured here, also a beautifully rendered visualization of something I can very much understand. I love the mannequin and the way it's cowering out of sight, and of course the cat just sleeping. There are so many little touches to this piece that make it real and so powerful. This is such an excellent piece of art, I only wish I could vote more than once.

Paul ..you have no idea how powerful your images are.. and how incredibly well you put emotions into your work.. You do it so well in a way that who can see this.. feel this too!. And what bothers me right now is that if tere is one sould in the world that should never feel this way.. this one is you! But remember something.. it takes a superman to have courage to face his fears.. and cry for them. Its not an easy task.. not for ordinary people... but you can!

This is great work. I really get a sense of the frustration of your main character. The spreading black stain is a great symbol. Woody's pose at the back of the desk is a great touch.

This is a very powerful subject you have choosen. You have used your talent to show the pain and frustration that every musician/artist has experienced at some time. We all beat ourselves up and are our own worst critic. You have the depth of soul/spirit expressed and have done it beautifully.

Great stuff, Paul. It's the little things (the cat, the mannequin) that make this image. Excellent work.

All those details, Woody, the uncaring sleeping cat, the ashtray and tobacco, the guitar, man, this is great! Powerful and disturbing image. Excellent work.

Sam, this piece has great emotional content, and is one of your best images in my opinion. The composition is well-balanced, and the POV is well-chosen. I wonder what this scene might look like if you were to fool around with the lighting and atmosphere, as you did in an earlier gallery image--given the "darkness" of this particular piece, some gloomier lighting and atmosphere might enhance this image. Just a thought-- Congrats on a great image.

Can't say i'm that keen on dark imagery. But then again the cat lightens the mood as does the Mysterious Blonde on the drawing board. The peg models a good touch crouched in the rear there. and the Drum packet. Still a very good picture though. ( still cannot figure why i haven't used P4 properly yet )

I am amazed at the depths that this picture reaches. The depths of emotion that are contained within are staggering and have left an impression upon everyone who looks at it. That is the sign of a true work of art. And I love the mannequin's pose, sets the mood perfectly in this scene. Thank you Paul, for this fantastic work of art. Human emotion is one of the hardest things to capture on paper, but I think you have done a perfect job of doing so here.

The best way to have people tune in to a mood is not by explaining it, but by suggestion. You are a real master when it comes to the art of making people feel what you mean. Excellent!

I like the mannequin's pose. It is as if there is shared pain. And often depression has a secondary effect on others.
