Description

This is a picture of the dress the colours of the sky from the Charles Perrault fairy tale, Donkey-Skin (or as I knew it as a child, The Donkey Girl). I'm planning on doing three, one of each of the dresses. It was by far my favourite story, not only for the content, but also for it's beautiful watercolour illustrations. Well, I am long grown up, the book has disappeared, and despite my efforts, I cannot seem to locate another copy of it. I have no recollection of who translated this particular version, or who did the breathtaking illustrations. This book was a major inspiration to me as I tried to reproduce the pictures as a child. I think that this is the closest that I have ever gotten to recreating the pictures from that story. If you are interested in reading the story, I found an online version here
