Description

Mainly I use Cinema 4d to design jewelry. So in the future I'll post a lot more... But making Forest Fairies is also great fun. Please comment... ;) Lizzy

I like how you did this, but the DOF is a little too much, I'd say, try moving the camera back a tad, so it doesn't seem like it's so heavy... anyways, I like the model, looks very interesting and unique!

Love it! Personally I don't think the DOF is too much... It works well for this image.. I probably would have used a floor surface with less detail and contrast though, to show off your caustics a little more.

If this was a real ring taken with a macro lens, the dof would be like this in most cases. Excellent work there anyway.

Keep the DOF and 86 the tabletop texture...a fine linen tex with very little bump might work better and add nicer hi lites to the ring. go here to see what wood would do; http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=217779&Start=60&Artist=bobbystahr&ByArtist=Yes http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=217778&Start=60&Artist=bobbystahr&ByArtist=Yes These are; 1.silver ring, the one I wear daily, and 2.a fantasy ring, basically an experiment with fonts keep up the great modelling work. peace bobbystahr

great work! I agree that the dof is too much - dof depends on several things, for one the point of focus. Given the same distance, lens, f-stop, etc., an old photographers trick is to fiddle with the point of focus to get a little more subject in focus. Rather than focus on the leading edge, like the ring above, focus just a bit beyond. The dof will keep the close things in focus and allow a little more distance. Very nice ring design too! A more elegant surface may show the ring better - polished granite, slate, maybe even glass.
