Description
I started with a gradient in Photoshop as a basic landscape. I painted some water, used treebrushes and grassbrushes (freeware downloaded from the free stuff area of Renderosity) which I painted all over because I was not satisfied with the result. I opened my pic in Dogwaffle (I use the freeware version, it has some really nice brushes!, you can find it at www.download.com)
After comments of my children I added the lovely fox that I found on the internet.
I am playing with different techniques, I am a beginner, this is my second post at Renderosity.
Thanks for viewing.

this is a really nice image. Just one maybe(?) helpful suggestion - when using a gradient as a bg (very good idea, btw) I've found it helps it you blur or smudge it a little to make it blend in with the picture and not making it ....seperate and linear. Just my opinion o'course. :] I like the depth created with the smaller, fuzzier trees, especially the colours. very natural. And last comment before I stop babbling on, - i like the motion you've given to the water. It's a very open, sweet image. Isn't trying new techniques just a whole bag of fun?! :]

Thank you for your helpful comment. I thought I was smart to use a gradient, but you are right that the sky is not that natural, I will change that. I changed the size of my pic to publish it here, and suddenly appeared some strange lines in the sky! Yes, trying all that new techniques is sooo addictive!

I like this too! Perspective is fine, colors are natural - and the fox gives a nice addition to the view:-) The style of the sky doesn't fit to rest of the image, like you noticed:-) But this is an excellent beginning in the addictive way of digital painting:-D

Very nice picture for getting started! You show a good sense of composition and mood, and you've created a unique countryside. Keep it up! :)
