Gets to the heart of it beautifully. May God grant repentance (strength to turn around to face Him). He's already paid the ultimate sacrifice once for all.

[Just a gentle hint] you may find a wider audience for this in the 2D or mixed media Gallery.

I will never understand why you "Christians" always have to focus on the end of Jesus' life, and the suffering. To me, He is Lord of the Light, a very wise and humane Teacher who wants us to be as innocent as children in all we do, one who brings hope and joy. He suffered and died as did all people who are a danger to cunning politics, but I never see Him as the crucified one: what came before that is imo far more important. He is my friend, someone I wish I'd known, someone who makes me feel warm, and safe, and who kindles the fires of goodness and tolerance in me.

Excellent image - thoughtfully portrayed! To answer AENEAS' question: Jesus' death was the purpose of His coming. In John 12:27 Jesus said, "Now my heart is troubled and what shall I say? Father save me from this hour? No, it was for this very reason I came to this hour." At the last supper He said, "This is my body which is broken for you...This is my blood which is poured out for you." He did this for you, Aeneas, He wasn't put to death, He laid down His life. "I lay down my life--only to take it up again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord." (John 10:17-18) in Isaiah 53:5 we read, "He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him, and by His wounds we are healed." We Christians focus on the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ because all of his other teaching was meaningless apart from this. The Spiritual healing Jesus offers came only through his suffering in our place - redeeming us by His blood shed on the cross, so that we can enter into an inheritance incorruptible. I hope that helps. When I didn't understand this, a friend suggested I read the Gospel of John - it changed my life. I pray it will change yours as well. Blessings.
