Description
Dekel Shar
(Grey Heron Castle)
This is another of the locations in the book I've been working on. Dekel Shar is the home of Baron Naruga, uncle of the main character in the story, and ruler of the Barony of Irkathar. This castle and its nearby town of Irkathar are about 5 miles along the shore of the Great Lake from the Temple of the Moon (shown in earlier pictures in my gallery). This view is looking west across the lake. I have a couple more views of the castle that I'll post over the next few days.
It's taken a long time to build this castle, and it had to exist as several separate files on my old computer. I've only been able to finally put it all together since getting a better machine. The final file is close to 220Mb in size.

Nice castle design and modelling :) One thing to watch out for when making multi-piece castles is to make sure the textures on each bit match up and scale ok (for example - on your gatehouse, the bricks are much smaller than the bricks on your main front wall). Even so, the castle still rocks :)

Since castles are often built in many stages, it's only logical that the stonework from one period might not match that of another period. That has certainly been the case in some castles I've seen. It's not uncommon to see fine stonework built on top of older, more massive blocks.

Cool castle, the scale of the textures is slightly disconcerting, but acceptable. Looks like it took a lot of patience!
