Description

I've been playing with this scene for about 3 weeks or so. I like the basic composition, but after dozens of atmospheres, different lighting, coloring (and uncoloring) vegetation, I just can't seem to find what I want. Davy pitched in and gave me some ideas, but I still keep missing the bubble on this one. I welcome any constructive suggestions, particularly for the lighting and overall color tones. Emphasis on constructive! ********** DAZ, Bennetor, Davy, RDNA, Steve (might be a few more things in there I can't remember right now!) ********** Vue 4 Pro Poser 4 Thanks in advance for your help!

I don't see any Davy bubbles - but i see a great image. Excellent vegetation around a beautiful couple. Very well done. Sincerily, Walther - chairman of the RR Liar's Club

I love your colours! Maybe try an early morning light for fun??? Also maybe have her look at something..she's looks in a trance. ;^)

Perhaps a background stormy sky for the darkness of it, to really set off the foreground? Or deep dark green trees back there?

Wow... You have been busy haven't you? Nice work here Dj. The vegetations contrasting colours really jump out at you. I see you are becoming quite the expert at water too... Very nicely done. Here I something I always do when I cannot get the atmosphere right... Go to your atmosphere editor and raise the light balance to 95 %, and drop ambient light to 5 %. Then play around with the light direction... You may get a surprise at how quickly you can find a lighting angle better than the one you had in mind: )

Very nice composition, Christie, and I like the colors and what you've done here with the water, too! The one thing that strikes me as odd, having used this AvalonBarge before, is it's scale? I like it here used as more of a rowboat?, but the scale of the seat is much too small to hold Mikey...whom I assume would be doing the rowing here if he had any sense of chivalry...hehe'-).

I don't see anything wrong with this picture! You are quite the master with VUE and I always love your art, but since you are asking us to help you find the sweet spot, I would have to go with Coa - try daybreak light, or maybe eventide light. For whatever reason, this lighting seems to be in the late afternoon or mid-morning, which is never as dramatic as daybreak or eventide. When a man is about to begin a great journey, whether to war, as could be the case here, he will often leave at daybreak to insure the longest amount of travel light for his sojourn. Also again, I would have to agree with Coa about the girl. She might be in shock that he has to leave, thus the blank stare, but it doesn't play out with the melancholic emotion of your title. A girl about to say good-bye to her man would be sad, perhaps looking down at the ground unable to look up at him, or maybe even away unable to wholy deal with the situation; it doesn't mean she can't be strong, but a painting is like a movie, it needs a good actress. You have a stunning location with high production values, but your actress isn't in the moment. Ha! How's that for an analogy? Then again, maybe the girl is the ONE who is leaving(!), and the man is just an escort! Who knows, not us. In the scheme of things, it doesn't matter; that's the beauty of art, each person reads into what they want. Anyway, I feel stupid giving you, the master, tips when I have never done what you have done, but I hope it helps because I want you to be as happy with the picture as all of us are! Good luck!

It is so romantic, and the image is just perfect in my eyes ... oh no - now I locate a problem: Their dresses do not suit for a long journey and I miss a suitcase or at least a rucksack. Now how should I rate? "Almost excellent"?

This is so beautiful, Christie. It really makes me want to get my puter back into shape so I can use Vue again. Love the softness and the colors here. You've done a perfect job on vegetation too. Gosh I just adore this.

Bravo, Christie, bravo!!! Very hard to improve. But like some others already sugested I'd give it try with a warm ambient light at aftenoon. This might strengthen the impression of an image about leaving an old life behind. :)

The picture is wonderful on its whole. I especially like the way the light drops on the girl's hair and all the beautiful colors. If anything, there might be too much light in this. Deeper shadows and, by that, even more vivid colors might do what you are looking for.
