Description

Okay... I know this is extremely simple, but complexity and details were not what I was going for with this one. I wanted to make it moody, serene and atmospheric. I hope I succeeded in doing that :) - The sky was a photograph I took yesterday, combined with some work on my Wacom Tablet :) The trees are (as always) Xfrog. I truly hope you like it! :) Thanks for viewing! Thomas

A compelling yet simple image. I'd like to try that some time! No time was lost on texturing or lighting this scene! It is all about composition.

Fantastic, effectful compostion. That sky is beautiful - wish you'd stick with the renderered skies, though, there's not much challenge in the photo approach IMHO (how about something from Terragen just for variation? Then you'd still be making computer graphics). Of course my POV backfires immediately :) since I use a lot of scanned images (foliage) and digital photos for my textures - well, for me it's a question of balance. And CONGRATS with your tablet - no (computer) graphic artist should be without one. If the choice should be between upgrading your image-editor OR buying a tablet - go for the tablet :) Anyway - I love this picture.

It's beautiful! Simply beautiful! Love those birds filling the sky... They remind me of some serene evening preceding the migration before the winter come...

Very enjoyable image, along with "Quebec" it've found a place in my heart... very special :-) In some way I must agree with bigbraader, using unmanipulated photos can lower the quality of digital artpiece, but, probably, not this time :-) But I have to agree with him, after all :-) Don't try Terragen sky, I think it's awfull... I grab some other's Terragene candies to my desktop, to confess, but I always replace their sky in Photoshop; just got the right brushes that could make more realistic impression :-) I suggest Bryce and then Photoshopping a little bit. Your work DOES look like a photograph, after all, it's just our problem (with braader) if we prefair digital look above the photography :-)

You were right, it is simple. But for what it has in simplicity, it picks up with in the sunset. You have the color changes perfectly set; and the clouds are tremendously wounderful. I especially love how you put the birds into effect.

Simple, yes. But beautiful. The composition is perfect, the grass adds a lot, and those trees...ahhhhh....I want my xfrog too!!! (sob).Contrary to some comments here i don't tend to be a purist about using photos for skies here and there. One can only wish that the next versions of Vue will have the capabilities to create a sky such as this......
