Description

This is another temple from my trip. This one is in the ancient Mayan city of Lamanai in Belize. It is a well restored example. Note the Jaguar "face" at either side of the base where worshipers left their offerings to the Jaguar god. Olympus C-3030 Zoom

Thanks for the comments guys. The faces are at the bottom on either side where you see the dark holes. The one on the right is easier to see...the nose hole are in the middle and the eye are the top holes with the stone splitting them as the iris. The big holes at the bottom are the sides of the mouth. It's a bit abstract, but it's there. I guess I can post a better view of it tomorrow. Oh, and you were not allowed to climb this temple. :-( They say that the limestone it is made from is very soft and repeated climbs wears away at it.
