Description

"...Nothing beside remains. Round the decay Of that colossal Wreck, boundless and bare The lone and level sands stretch far away." - Percy Bysshe Shelley In this picture I strove to portray the image conveyed in a poem by Percy Bysshe Shelley. The poem describes the story of a traveler who found a ruined statue and an inscription in the middle of the desert, portrayed somewhat as I have attempted to show in the picture.

I met a traveller from an antique land, Who said--"Two vast and trunkless legs of stone Stand in the desert . . . . Near them, on the sand, Half sunk a shattered visage lies, whose frown, And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command, Tell that its sculptor well those passions read Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things, The hand that mocked them, the heart that fed; And on the pedestal, these words appear: 'My name is Ozymandius, King of Kings, Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!' Nothing beside remains. Round the decay Of that colossal Wreck, boundless and bare The lone and level sands stretch far away."
Sorry for all the words, I think you have done well :)

I would like to apologize for the inexactness of the image. By reading the poem you can see that I should have used 2 legs as apposed to a hand, but I thought that the hand allowed me to convey the concept better.

I think you did well. I do believe that the hand seems to be ill placed in the dessert. More like it was put there then actually there. Just a little critiscism, I think it was great :)

Good picture. I like the sand and the writing.
