as this is, the figure is too blurry. perhaps if you put in a non-blurred opponent, or some sort of background to help convey the speed.

hrmmmm... or you might try just blurring/fading the backmost parts? think of the Flash Comics or any that have a fast moving figure.. the fromt's usually clear and the movement's suggested by the back parts being "smudged" 8 ) I think with the foot position cleaned up a bit it looks great 8 )

I agree with Wizzard and sadriel, you need to be able to see what the figure is. also you might think about using a fast speed technique that photographers use and that is it have the background blury, instead of your figure, this also gives the impression of something moving fast. Try a few different methods or techniques.

Good idea here. I'm another who thinks you'd be better using a blurred background (perhaps a very slight motion blur around the sword arm and rapier). You might also try looking at different points during the move to see what gets you the most feeling of movement.
