Dear Visitor,I've joint Renderosity in Sept. 2002, while being active for several year I have made a lot of wonderful friends here and I'm still in contact with a few of them. Was elected for AOM in July 2004. Well, since I am Site Administrator on Photo-Genesis my time is just too limited for being active on RR. I just drop in once in a while to say hello to my friends which I miss! If you want to know more about me... the interview I've done for R'osity in July 2004 is to be seen here Feel free to also visit my personal website  Monika Wolf Photography

They are Moon Yrrebwarts....they are not to be eaten....but, are used as adornment by the Martian Men/Woman...one in each Cheek to give a Godfather appearence...also they are used as Earrings....and a form of Love Beads...so Brenda say's....I think the Latin Name is Squishemupgobstoppers....they are also Smokable...and give one a feeling of Euphoria. baiser muuuuuuuah

@ Roswita... the shot was taken on my walk along this garden of the Castle of Schwetzingen, it's near my hometown Mannheim in Germany :o)

Beautiful shot of these red fruits. Looks like some type of apple, but can't be sure. Nice to see these brightly colored fruits in March, however.

great shot of this !??? plant :-)
Drea71
Could those fruits be leftovers from last fall? They look very much like the "Zierapfel"-fruits we get from our tree in the garden. You know - the tree Johnnie hates to climb while it's blossoming :-)

They look like crab-apples - I ate them as a kid - very sour and not highly recomended - But it's always fun to look - Great shot !

Hmm, they could be crab apples...very sour...so Zierapfel would fit:s Anyway, with that great contrast pf colours, it's a lovely shot, Moni:)
Lalani

wonderful shots. it would be nice go back in a few days, when the blooms are coming. perhaps you can see apple and bloom just on the tree at the same time. Frohe Ostern und Viel Spabeim Eiersuchen. Jg

Wonderful compo and great colours once again my dear! Don't have any idea on what this is .. but "Zierapfel" may very well be true? huggles

Very cool shot, but fruit doesn't come in the spring. You may be on the other side of the world from me, but you are still in the northern hemisphere, so you are in the spring right now, no??? I don't understand.

Hmmm at first looking at the thumbnail (colors) I would have said a peach tree, but not at a half meter high! They almost look like some kind of cherry! No worries here I am hungry but I don't eat cherries, had it been a peach tree, now that would have been another story! :) Good advice on not eating things not knowing what they are! ;) Geeze Moni the bark even looks like that of a cherry tree...
jgeorge
Red and joyful!

A very colorful photo, Monika! I'm sorry, I don't know what kind of tree this is; they look like apples to me, but that's a bit to early in this time of year, eh? Hugz and kizzes, Tjeerd
bleachfix
OK...they look like giant cherries! Who's been messin' with mother nature and cross grafting cherry trees with apple trees?!! I bet it was Tedz...he seems to know alot abt them...hmm
Zemela
Excelent colour and contrast, beautifull tree, though I am not so sure are they dwarf apples or overgrown cherries!

I think I can solve the riddle: It must be the "European mountain ash, Rowan" As i saw no leaves on your photo from early March I guess the berrys are from last year, as they are resistent through the winter! ------------- Scientific Name: Sorbus aucuparia L. Synonym: Pyrus aucuparia Family: Rosaceae Fruiting Habits: Showy clusters of bright deep orange small fruits, 0.4 inch in diameter (1 cm), in September, persistent through the winter. The berries are edible and used to make rowan jelly. Blooming Habits: Heavily scented small white flowers, in clusters of 3 to 5 inches wide (7-12 cm), in May. Rowan was once planted next to the houses to protect them against bad luck. The name 'aucuparia' is from the Latin for 'bird catcher'.
