Description
Zanzibar Trader
A Baghala - one of the many varieties of dhows that traded up and down the east coast of Africa. Her hold is full of valuables and she's riding low in the water - heading home after a profitable trading voyage.
I'm still in the 'virtual shipyard', guess it's sort of habit forming.
Bryce 5, Poser 4. Postwork only for signature.
As with my other 'dhow' model (visible here in the background)- the masts, standing rigging and mizzen sail are borrowed from De Espona's free felucca, the San Juan. They did such a fine job on the lateen sails, masts and rigging I can't resist using them repeatedly on other projects - it saves lots of hours. I built the hull & sterncabin, the mainsail, details and running rigging, with items made in 3DCad and Bryce primitives.

In the words of the group The commodores .... ''sail on''! .... EXCELLENT.

Great model. I could have used it for a picture I'm working on. In the end I used a lattice. Great picture. I like the sail texture. Nice.

The model by itself is about 45Mb. Fine detail always costs in polygon count, but that's what it takes to look "real".
