Description

Started out at 1st light. Had a very restless night. The mules were nervous most of the night. I got up 3 times to look around the camp. Don't know if it's the mules or me but now I can't shake the feeling that someone is watching me.. Damn mules, but you can't fool them. We hit the ledge and went past the cross headed out to fine the cathedral by the water.. I'd assume the cathedral would be a large formation, that's a givin.. This section of the Steps was closed in with no breeze. Just hot stifling air made humid from the water.. Didn't get much of a breakfast today. Cooked up a few flapjacks and while I was waiting for the skillet to heat that dang Jaw-Bone eat the batter.. I'll remember that also for my next Bar-Be-Que. They say mule tastes good... We came to a widening of the ledge and both mules relaxed a little till we came up on another rattler. Ole Jaw-Bone let out one hell of a HAW that was so loud I thought it would start a rock slide.. Got rid of Mr rattler. I talked nice to him , but he wouldn't move so I "rocked" him to sleep.. I was starting to feel real good about this hunt. Things were going pretty smooth and I only had 2 more way points to the treasure.. I didn't get too cocky though. Lady luck and fate have a way of kicking the legs out from under you.. Around 3 pm we found a nice body of water and one large formation that had to be the cathedral. I stood on the edge looking over the terrain. Nice breeze here, no bugs, some graze for the mules. Found a lot of horse tracks, so we know the "Boys" have been here. Camp here tonight and swing around to the left and take the ledge towards the cathedral. Next way-point is the Vessel, which could be a bowl or cup shape. Maybe even a boat shape. Will have to keep my eyes open. To be Continued.. TG
