Description

An airbase in southeast Asia during World War II. A flight of P-51s return from a straffing mission. For First Lieutenant Walthers, flying the middle plane, those rusty huts and cracked tarmack are an especially joyful sight. He has just completed his last mission, which was a "milk run" and will soon be rotating back to the States. Retired has discreetly informed me that my planes have D-Day invasion stripes on their wings. I should have caught that, but that was the way the models came. (Red face, sheep-eating grin) P-51s, including pilot by amalthea3d. Except for the gas and oil tanks by Ed Baumgarten and the control tower and runway by me, the base is by kalebdaark. The sky is also mine. Jeep was Vadik Nesterv. The palm trees are a Bryce Tree object preset and the jungle ground cover is Transpond's Jungle Pack by Judith Ward and Chris Oldershaw. Thanks, Ed, Vadik, Judith, and Chris!
