Absolutely Perfect John! The skintones are just right, his hair has wonderful color and highlights, your use of shadows and light give the feel of mystery and I just love the fabric and folds of his clothes. Painter is a fine program and as was said above, it seems to suit you very well. Excellent work John!...Cheryl

Wow, you are going to kick butt even more when you get Painter 8. It has a lot different interface, more PS, but I think it feels more natural. The image is just spectacular, the tones, etc. Not much to really say in critique, except maybe on the left side of his face (our left), perhaps a little more shadow to define the roundness.

I think what you do crosses over so many styles that there really isn't an option to point out flaws. In watching your work since the beginning, you've always shown us a certain mix of elements that we call "soup" and that shows through in this portrait. It doesn't really matter what programs you use as far as I'm concerned. The results will always be just as great.

What's he hiding under that cloak? Seriously, John your work is just exceptional. In addition to what I wrote under another one of your paintings about your work having "life,"... your brush work is equally fascinating. Despite composing a static figure, there is yet a lot of movement to be seen. Really wonderful work, John! :O)
