Description

OK, guys, I have thought about some of the comments on the Square Dance image.

  • tresamie would have added a frame.
  • fractalinda wanted to have more texture in the background.
  • KPK wasn't content with the center circle, which in reality is not a circle. But all in all Peter was right.
  • tolstoy asked for more texture.
  • eras50 found that the central area looks detached from the rest (like KPK). This was really a hard thing to change...
  • Rykk would love to see the composition from the thumbnail as the whole image. A very nice idea. I am still thinking about it. The same can be said to my last spiral post...

I added much more texture, partly as a whole layer, partly masked to have different textures on different parts of the spiral. I played with fBm in the MMF folder. I made the colour in the sticks changing. I added one of my older frames and had some luck with the 3D effect coming from two layers and a happy change of the merge modes...

But I really hope that I haven't done too much and haven't lost something...

A big thank you to all who encouraged me in my last posts, helped me with good ideas or just liked what I made...

This looks great! I didn't see the first until now but I like what you've done here, the extra texture helps in my eye. Good composition to begin with!

I like this one. I see the subtle texture changes, but for me, I liked the first one best. I think it is because of the brighter colors. I am really tuned in to colors. And you are a texture oriented fractal maker.

The image pleases the eye and the centre "circle" looks a bit better now. But there is still the impression that the center part was added afterwards as a separate layer. The texturizing in the center area should be the same as in the rest of the image. Maybe that would solve the problem.

I like this one too. Agree with more texture in the background and adding a frame, but I'm not sure about texture in the center. Anyway I liked the first one best, sorry... that's just me ;o)

I really like this, Andreas, but I agree with KPK - the center does look as if it is a seperate layer added later. Perhaps a gradient layer with the dark bit in the center might help. Apart from that, excellent, well-balanced composition, thanks for sharing :)

I still dont like the center too, in this case it is breaking the simetry not in good way. The circle itself has a great individuality and wouldnt allow easy to other objects to get the first attention away. The texturizing now makes very nice paper effect. I would suggest to rework the central element to a circle and probably to turn the direction of the rotation, this could separate the attention in a good way.

They are both wonderful! I meant no criticism at all regarding the frame, but this is a lovely one!

I like the changes but agree with KPK and some others about the center image.

I don't think you "lost' anything, but the center spiral would look better incorporated, with the texture mussed up a bit; otherwise, it's excellent.

Andy, I like them both, they are different:-)

well, man, that's what you get from listening to people about your art, in my opinion... you could send the files for this image to people and they could make their own images out of that and put their name on it etc. and you make your own one. i hope i'm not sounding unfriendly - i loved the first one, and here, what you lost is the magic and the integrity, in my opinion - and this is making me grumble...

Commenting on other people's work is so delicate it makes me shudder, but you were kind enough to take our opinions into consideration. I had both images open for a while, studying the changes. I definitely like this one better. The added texture unifies the elements, not only in a formal sense but suggesting a deeper involvement with each other. I still agree with KPK about the centre circle, though the "detached" effect is greatly subdued. I find this render "wiser", more beautiful than the first.

Well gosh I like both of them I think they each have their own personal character about them both are excellent to me however I think this one does look a bit more completed again everyone to their own opinion ...

Like them both, but the first one a little bit more.

I liked both but the texture in the center spiral and the sticks is especially rich and organic and makes the fractal more real for me. I do wondr what it would have been like with no background texture-- but since that is tons more work and the background is so lovely, please don't try. lol.
