This is a really pretty fractal Marion! I think the background is so nice, I would not worry,it is so much nicer than black! You did a terrific job of it too! :)

Seeing as I am sat her watching the rain pour down today( again) this image kind of reminds me of a bird flying in the rain. Those bright areas just are the nicest touch!

Hmm this is unsual Marion the background does seem to rob it of the fractal lighting and glow of the flame but...It does have a more paint on canvas effect and worth the ever creative talents you have to unleash on new work!!

I think the backgound looks like a slice of slate in an unusual greenish sedementary hue. Yesterday's news is fresh as a daisy when you pickup the paper or the magazine arrives delayed by mailing.

Mmmm, I have to agree with danob, I think a black background makes flames stand out more, but this is very beautiful all the same, and I just LOVE the colours in your flame, they have a gorgeous pearly look..wonderful work !!!!

A very beautiful image, I love the colouring. I'm playing with backgrounds myself at the moment but i feel that as I'm so used to seeing a black background nothing ever looks quite right. Your background looks like slate to me and gives the flame a painted look to it. I like it.

Makes me think of a multicoloured flight of eagles, meanacing but regally beautiful. Your creative imagination, Marion, continues to amaze me.

I thought of a kite flying against a stormy sky. I like seeing flames presented on backgrounds other than black. It breaks them out of the mold and requires a concentrated effort to make them look better. I believe this one hits the mark!

Fantastic, Marion. Love the metalfeel of the flame and the way it seems to float miles above a tranquil sea. Excellent artwork !!

I like it a lot. Love the colors in the flame, very unusual and the background looks like water from high above. To me it looks like a giant bird, or a flock of them, flying over the ocean like the pterodactyls at the end of Jurassic Park 3. Cool looking image!

I don't find anything wrong with back ground you may want to try to keep it as dark as possible with hints of color so it doesn't take away from the flame. IMHO its beautiful the way it is also I think its just something you have to try and be happy with.. cause opinions are like everything else. beautiful work

Whoa! This one is begging to sit on my desktop! This is a favorite for me! I love these colors, and the "pearl" accents are the perfect jeweled accessory. After you see so many black backgrounds with flames they start to look alike. THIS is EXCEPTIONAL!

I like the background, it is visually pleasing. Maybe you just need a tiny bit of shadowing to integrate it. I love the way the feathers sparkle.

I love the colors and textures. Perhaps if you added a bit of a drop shadow the image may blend better. Nice work Marion.
