Description
Belaphon: "As in times past, the humans judge us before we have a chance to speak. The elves do not have the power to create another barrier, and the young do not have the spirit to hide behind it even if they did.
Though it saddens us all, the dragons must go to war. Will the elves join us? Will you see out your charge until the end?"
Gaiowyn: "...Yes..."
"The dragons had rejoined the world, and were once again met with hostility. With no barrier to hide behind, they had no choice. With the aid of their elven allies, the dragons were going to war."
-The History of Aroth, volume VII (Prelude to War, final lines)
The twenty-first image in my Aroth story arc (started with Desolation). Images to date: Desolation, Captive, Bait, Arcane Magic, Tragedy, Ambush, Departure, Underground, Observation, Nexrosis, Breakthrough, Encounter, Return, Council, Gathering Forces, Escape, Resurgence, Army of Darkness, Freedom, Inevitability, and Commitment.
Belaphon's first appearance as a Mil Dragon, and you can't even see the scarring over his left eye. Ah well, I guess I'll just have to rely on the fact that he's a huge, white, dragon to distinguish the character ;)
Originally, I was planning on using very little post-work for this image. However, after rendering there were a lot of little tweaks needed to get everything looking right... Mostly in Gaiowyn's arms (Posette doesn't have a wide range of movement), and along seams in the cave wall.
The next Aroth image is going to be a little while in coming... I have it slated as being a large battle scene, and that's going to take some doing.

Excellent composition! The sadness of Gaiowyn about having to go to war is brilliantly portrayed. Belaphon looks fantastic too, and I just love your story. Excellent work!
