Description
I'm sure some of you do this, but for those of you that don't know, you can grow a pineapple plant from the top portion of a pineapple. Just leave an inch or two of meat at the bottom and stick it in some nice moist potting soil. Keep it very wet for several days. It may brown and dry out at the edges, but it will eventually come back to life and grow into a full fleged plant given time. There is one in my front yard that has grown to epic proportions, and is actually growing a baby pineapple.
This is a first for me. They say it takes about two years after you plant it, but I've had some for 4 years that still haven't sprouted. I'd say this one took about 3.
I was walking by it late one afternoon and thouht that a nice macro would capture the geomtry of it's growth quite nicely. This is looking straight down at it's newly formed crown.
I'll post more shots later. Thanks for viewing!
