Description
NEVER AGAIN - THE BURNING TIMES !!
This image is dedicated to the men & women, past & present, who have been persecuted & tormented for what they believe in or for what others 'THOUGHT' they believed in.
I'm bad about keeping readme files, so I'll do the best I can:
Dark Ages Props by Caleb (wonderful set & well worth the VERY low price).
The unfortunate woman being burned is Kelly by Destiny.
The woman in the stocks is the Peasent Girl (I think by PhilC).
NHair5.
Fire is from a campfire prop (either PhilC or NERD. Sorry, can't remember).
Sorry about the large file size.

Great fire, but, the model has a "Oh look at that over there" kinda expression, rather than "AHHHH I'm Burning Alive!" type thing. I decided not to rate it because a lot of the stuff was made by other people, good concept and composition though.

Very nice work indeed...the image is disturbing without being tasteless...and delivers a message without beating anyone over the head with it. Awesome. Merry meet, MoonShade... and blessed be!

I dont know what prog you used for rendering, but IMO there is a problem with black shadow in this image..The Black "color" is very powerful, its like quiet passages in music..they are worth gold, The roof tops is not visible at night, and certainly not during the "they must be burned" periode..

Quite a message you delivered! Sadly people still burn at the proverbial stake today for what they believe or dont believe in. I think that is one of my biggest reasins why I din't believe in organized religion.... beautiful Image!!

This different from what I've been seeing lately,I like the extra little detail you always seem to throw in like the guy in the stocks,I never seem to see things like that til the last minute and it is always a surprise,Anyway I'm rambling,I like it Nuff Said...

Nice job. A note- the executioner always strangled the victim at the stake (humanitarian reasons- both for the victim as for the onlookers)- with 2 notable exceprions: Jeanne d'Arc and Gilles de Rais (Blackbeard).

Unfortunately, strangulation was hardly the norm (that would have been a blessing compared to the torment the persecuted went through) Luckily this kind of discrimination is prevented by law these days, regrettably religious discrimination (as with many others) and the acceptance of Pagans/Wiccans or just about any non-Christian faith believers is a constant struggle with the disquieted rants of the ignorant. There is so much propaganda around Neo-Paganism that people actually do believe that we worship the devil, or sacrifice animals and small children and that witches are ugly old woman with warts on their nose. Whether its plain ol ignorance or out-n-out close-mindedness, some continue (and will always) preach incorrect information about others for sheer progression of themselves or their religion. Ive learned the ability and patience to deal with the misconception and inform those who care to open their ears. Blessed Be

I would have to agree with asrai. I have never heard of strangulation before being burned as a "witch". Also, the burning was usually after days & sometimes weeks of torture. This included, but is not limited to, the boot, whipping, dunking, pressing & the rack. All to try for a confession. Also, while in prison, even if just being held until trial the person had to pay for everything they had in prison. This included rent of the cell, clothing, food & even the chains they restrained them in. If the person had no savings, their family had to pay. If they had no family, it was taken from possesions &/or property. Thank you to everyone who has & may leave comments &/or rankings. Blessed Be.
