Wow !!! You put alot of thought into this one. and I agree on some of the issues you present in this short "letter to the editor". Don't ask me for a rebutal however, I believe everyone in the world is entitled to thier own opinion and if they were not happy with the choices of thier society , then they should vote to make a change. I have no idea how certain people seem to become elected officials even after it seems no one ever really voted for them. Nor do I believe that certain votes make much of a difference when you come right down to it. It is like playing the lottery....You just never know when it is gonna pay and it is always a gamble. Society will never be perfect in a world like ours, but we must strive to change the things we can , to make the world around us livable under any and all circumstances. I myself try to find solice in my art as well as in my love, life and family . If we live our lives only to scoff and not do anything about what we see around us, then there is no hope for a brighter tomorrow. All we can do is try our best and hope that when things are all said and done, we have come to the right conclusion . I hope you vote this November in the presidential election, it would be a big help to our society! Words to think on ...and well worth the read :D excellent ex_cal!!!

QUOTE: " You get stung by one of those transparent stingers and youre deader than 80s music. (I dont care what you people think, the 80s sucked for music!" .... EX .... glad to see you still retain your 'sense of humor', albeit, sarcastic .... there are 'many' AMERICANS who feel similarly to issues in our country, also .... being a product of the '60's, myself, the one 'hard truth' WE learned, was that you have to be 'inside' the 'system', to 'change' the 'system'.... excellent.

You're a good writer and your words are powerful and just about as instrumental in instilling conspiracy theoretical fear type junk in some of the already scared shitless people whose home happened to be in a country that let people into it..even granting them all the freedoms held so dear.. a country which wasn't a war zone.. until that fated day..and a country which had to wake up.. so do many.. but not due to fear.. due to the fact we can't afford the childlike naivity we used to have. That's all.. and I agree fear's a basstard..but I won't be so gullable as to swallow every individuals idealisms. I'm a person..and I'm proud to be a Person.

As I told you before, me dear, you have one helluvan acid tone, an eye for leaks in this great machinery called world, and the exceptional talent of writing a very dynamic essay - as for the theme, well, i wouldn't know too much about it. Just like Bobbie25, i don't watch news too much either. In here, people aren't so alarmed and scared - heh, who would want to throw a bomb at our humble patch of land? tis small enough :P

When I look at the interaction between countries and imagine those countries as men and woman, their behavior is incredibly childish. People can grow up to responsible adults - alas, that disqualifies them for important leading roles - states can't, I'm afraid.
I'me one of those lucky guys who lives in a country where most civil rights are still upheld. But the situation is growing worse. Not as bad yet as you describe, but the police now can tap phones, read emails and request information from service providers almost at will, without having to inform the one being tapped. That's scary! But at least no one can be arrested and thrown in jail the way you describe.
And all those efforts and legislation are so futile. There simply is no way to stop a determined madman who wants to blow up something or someone. So I'm afraid you're right: governments are using the 'terrorist threat' as an excuse to get society in a stranglehold. I know what to do with my vote!
Excellent essay, well worth the read!
