A scene from my novel The Grey Pearl (Alternative site: easier visually, but requires slightly more browsing. Its in the library.
A mermaid and her pirate lover, both transformed into merfolk. The reason for the clothes is in the story.

Considering his yellow tie is around his waist, what is the floating one? I also think that there needs to be stronger shadows where their bodies are touching- like his hand in her hair and her body held against his, etc. I think it would make it stand out and seem more 3D. Also, it looks like they are laying on something, but I dont see anything for them to lay on. And if it was the bottom of the ocean- would there still be the light reflections from the surface? Really like the pose though and nice expressions.

the floating scarf is usually around his head. they are settling towards teh bottom, they just haven't landed yet

Looks like her fingers are slightly webbed...great! I love that feature on mermaids. Though, I think more extensive webbing adds to the exotic look!
