Description

From the diary of Ms. Jane Porter: Father warned me to pay attention and stay close to camp. I didn't mean to wander off but I saw the most beautiful bird of an unknown species. Had I been alert and not by so enthralled by it's stunning colors, I wouldn't have lost sight of camp nor would I have stmbled onto an angry lion! I've never been so frightened in my life. Just as I screamed in terrror...He dropped from the trees, huge knife in hand, growling and taunting the big cat. He was a magnificent creature, this strange mixture of man and beast. The flesh rippled on his glistening body as he let out a huge gutteral cry and suddenly charged the cat. I thought for sure he would be killed, but to my surprise the great cat turned and fled. He turned and looked at me with those deep, penetrating eyes...I opened my mouth to speak but my vocal cords suddenly seemed paralyzed. He smiled in a way that melted my entire being, then he lept into the trees as if he were some great ape, and vanished as quickly as he appeared. That's not exactly the way Borough's wrote it, in fact Jane Porter's first encounter with Tarzan was nothing like that. I decided to take a little from Hollywood and a bit of "poetic license" with the tale. After a month of experimenting and playing...my first Poser 5 render using the Firefly engine. I post-worked the render with NiceNiche's Photoshop Ink Actions (available in the Marketplace) to acheive a "pulp" or "Sunday Funnies" look to the image. I'm not reall happy with the shadows, I probably shouldn't have used global lighting. There's a few other things wrong, but after maybe 2 weeks of render...tweek...render...tweek, I decided it was time to move on to something new.
