Description

This image stars a new series from the March Air Reserve Base AirFest 2004 in Riverside, California. I had a 75-300mm IS USM lens on a Canon Rebel EOS 300D D-SLR... and I got 4,141 of the best images I've ever taken at an airshow, not to mention the closest! Enjoy! ::: Part 3 of a series of March Air Reserve Base AirFest 2004 photos ::: Taken 4-24/25-2004 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ --- For more warbird images, please visit http://www.warbirds.n3.net --- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Heritage Flight started in 1997 to promote the 50th anniversary of the Air Force. It consisted of having a modern Jet Fighter in the Air Force fly with a Warbird fighter of equal role from World War 2 or the Korean Theater that served in the Air Force as well. The crowd's responce to the flight was overwhelming, and thus the Heritage Flight Program was created. In February of 1998, the first Heritage Flight Training and Safety seminar was held at Langley AFB, VA. The Heritage Flights can be seen at most major airshows all around the USA... and not just with the Air Force. The Navy has created a simular program which includes the F-18 Super Hornet and any number of World War 2 Naval Fighters. The Air Force Heritage Flight Program can consist of anything from the F-15 Eagle (pictured here), F-16 Viper, and A-10 Thunderbolt. Vintage Aircraft that fly in the Air Force Heritage Flights range from P-51D Mustangs (pictured here) to P-47 Thunderbolts, P-38 Lightnings, P-40 Warhawks, and Korean War F-86 Sabres. For the Navy, anything from F4U Corsairs, F6F Hellcats, F8F Bearcats, F4F Wildcats, F7F Tigercats, and etc. can be used. Here, a F-15 Eagle flies with two P-51D Mustangs from World War 2. The F-15 Eagle is going just about as slow as possible as the Mustangs fly just about as fast and steady as they can. The three aircraft form up in formation and make several passes perfectly in formation with eachother. A tribute to the Air Force... then and now. This images was taken with a Canon Rebel EOS 300D (6 Megapixel D-SLR) with a Canon 75-300mm IS USM F4.9 lens.

F-15 pilot must have the stall warning blaring cuz he'd have it practically in reverse!
