I watched this bumblebee struggle to get in the air for about 5 minutes, but he couldnt :(
I guess his wings were misshapen or something... :((
When i took this picture he already sat there for some time looking pretty depressed...
Hmmm... the filesize was to large and i didnt want to resize it, so i compressed the jpg by 10% :S
The quality is still pretty good, but the background is a bit pixy :(
If you want to see it slightly better look here:

So did he ever fly away? He reminds me of that little caterpillar in "A Bug's Life", he was so fat that his tiny little wings wouldn't lift his huge body! Nice shot.
Enmos
I really dont know wether he evr flew away or not, because i had to go to work. I was only at home to have lunch... However i fear that he never flew... and still wanders around somewhere... Sadly, Creatures like this usually die of exhaustion :((

There are (genetic) diseases that cripple insects. It's a pity to see a bumblebee that cannot fly, but it provided for you an opportunity to capture it; and you did that very well!

@jvc2: Yes, it looked like his wings were misshapen you can see it in the image too... Thanks to all that commented :)

Some of them do get this bacterial infection, they gradually lose there strength and die. This struggle may take a week or more ...! Great macro btw.
