Description

Tryed like hell to get the lighting on the shadow rings but gave up. This the best that I could do with out hanging myself. LOL. It's from Larry Nivins novel. Hope you like it & keep on rendering.

Erm ... it's Larry Niven, not Nevin.

I will give ya an excellent no matter how the name is spelled. LOL. Your concept of the authors description is interesting. I had a mental picture that the ring was much larger and thinner. His description was of different geologic segments also. Your surface looks like a space station. I am NOT being critical - just mention how my perception of the world in the series doesnt square with what you depict. None the less, this is really excellent. Where did the ship come from? Love to see more of your work on ringworld. :-)

Yeah..but the concept's closer than some get..What you might try is to get a totally blacked-out sky, then put a radial light in the center..then angle the view to see the shadows..just a thought..keep 'em coming.

Ok, Going to try it again, and thanks for reminding me of the faults I made, I will try to correct them. Everthing was made out of Bryce.

Great scene and I'm too much of a beginner to comment on the lighting - it all looks great to me!

Great image! Beautiful texturing and POV. I am always fascinated to view any artwork based on Niven's works (ESPECIALLY the Ringworld stories), and am pleased to find another fan of his. This in inspiring. Makes me want to try to make some images as well.

The "Ringworld" is very well done! The single ship is a bit out of proportions, but it's nice, too!
