::: Part 6 of a series of March Air Reserve Base AirFest 2004 photos ::: Taken 4-24/25-2004 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ --- For more warbird images, please visit http://www.warbirds.n3.net --- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ * This Aircraft is a Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-17 Fresco. Owned by Red Bull and piloted by Bill Reesman, this Korean War vintage aircraft flys at airshow providing a 15 minute show. Here, the MiG-17 puts on full afterburner going at about 200 miles an hour. The MiG-17 has a top speed of almost 700 miles and hour and proved to be formatable to our US fighters in Korea until the introduction of the F-86 Sabre. The MiG-17 served in about 30 air forces, including the Soviet Union, Warsaw Pact countries, China, Afghanistan, North Korea, Sri Lanka, Syria, Morocco, Cuba, Indonesia, and Cambodia. (info taken from http://www.fas.org/nuke/guide/russia/airdef/mig-17.htm) This images was taken with a Canon Rebel EOS 300D (6 Megapixel D-SLR) with a Canon 75-300mm IS USM F4.9 lens.

That's a great capture! You really have a gift for aviation photography. You always catch aircraft at their best. A minor point. Speed is probably no more than 200 knots seeing as the gear are down.

Fantastic capture of the flames. When I was a kid at Beale Air Force Base in California, I used sit out on the porch and watch the flames of the SR-71 aircraft at night. It was soooo cool.
