Description

Pentalpha is a solitaire/puzzle game that dates back to ancient Greece. We originally sold these as a game, but figured it would work well as an altarpiece for the Wiccan/Neopagan crowd. For centuries a 5-pointed star has been a charm against evil. The story of Sir Gawaine and the Green Knight explained that it represented the 5 wounds of Christ, and therefore demons are terrified of it. Another explanation is that it represents Man (or God), plus the elements: Earth, Air, Fire, Water. This design uses both interpretations. The rose symbolizes Christ and the crown of thorns. Celtic motifs represent elements. Man is represented by a Celtic a "beard-puller" motif. About 12" in diameter on an oak board.
