Description

I modeled this in W3D (finally understanding how its UV mapper works). I created the skin in PS and wrapped the model/rendered in B5. It's still not finished yet...but it'll get there eventually. Thanks for checkin' it out! :O)

Nice work! I'd love to see a different viewpoint to appreciate the curves on the top of the ship.

Hey great work! And congrats on figuring out the UV mapping. Since this is "new" to you maybe you wouldn't mind if I ask you for some tips on how you went about learning? I still don't know how to do this.

Thanks for the kind replies! Once I finish adding all the decals, I plan on rendering a few different views and combining them into one image similar to this. Figuring out how the W3D built-in UV mapper worked was a break-through for me personally. This is the first ship skin I've made since learning it. If you want some tips, feel free to email me personally (check the profile for my address). I'll help however I can, as I also emailed artists along the way in order to learn it. Again, thank you all for the kind words. :O)

I tried UVMapping in Wings, just never got the hang of it (I just assign colors to faces, then shift+click in Bryce..;). Sure, agree with the rest, it would be nice to know..

Pakled, that's a pretty seamless method for assigning quick-textures in B5. However, I really hammered to learn the UV mapper within W3D in order to create better skins. I found that I just couldn't do some of the things I wanted by material-assignment only (however, it does produce nice results on its own). I've already replied to a user here, who emailed me personally. I'll try to help if I can (as I'm still learning it). Thank you for the kind words! :O)

Excellent texturing. I don't think I've seen better texturing coming out of Bryce. Good work.

That's great! If I ever get my Swordfish model done, I might make you texture it in return for my technical knowledge! :P
