Description
A historical figure whom I am facinated with, and tried to capture her sorrow as her lands were ravaged by the romans. For accuracy, one of her pinki's is missing as she had cut it off in greif after the rape of her two daughters by Roman soldiers.

interesting pic - esp the face - can't decide if it is overexaggerated or just right. like the overall effect very much - was the hair painted? perhaps a gradient on top f lll the previous layers would tie the two separate parts in nicely. regardless, 'tis a cool image :o)

Not bad. However the clothing is about one and a half thousand years out of date, as is the sword. The expression on the face is great however, as is the general symmetry of the piece. I am unsure as to your usage of the name though; you can either spell it the Romanised way Boudicea (Bow-da-cee-AH) or as in the Iceni Celtic Boudicca (Boo-DEE-cah) This is how she was described by Dio Cassius "She was huge of frame, terrifying of aspect, and with a harsh voice. A great mass of bright red hair fell to her knees: she wore a twisted torc, and a tunic of many colours, over which was a thick mantle, fastened by a brooch. Now she grasped a spear, to strike fear into all who watched her." However, this account (along with most that we know of the event) was written some hundred years after her death and may be more a Roman or Grecian idealised view rather than an historical reality
