Description

Steerpike... From Mervyn Peakes' Gormenghast trilogy. The first two books "Gormenghast" & "Titus" are among my all time favourites, they are just incredible. I'm not so much a fan of "Titus Alone", the third book, as Peake was heading into dementia when he wrote it and the plot became rather strange and disjointed. So yes, Steerpike... A wonderful character, twisted, dark and infinitely charming. Aptly described as a diabolically clever little monster, but like all charming villians... he doesn't end happily. *Sigh* Why must it always be so? Wacom, Photoshop, Paintshop & Photo for reference. Awesome image...very dark and cold looking...I LOVE his eyes...but alas now that I know he's a bad guy :O( I can't fall for his charm :O) EXCELLENT IMAGE as always!!!

I don't know the book, but this is an amazing portrait. so much power in this. the light is fantastic, it makes me think "there's more to this guy than I'll ever know", the skin is so real I want to touch it. it's si impressive. i love it so much!

As a fellow-enthusiast of the trilogy (in case you hadn't guessed!); this is superb. Lighting, atmosphere and expression all pull together very well. I don't know if you've seen Peake's original sketches, but there's more than a hint of them here.
