Description

Another for the comp - not totally happy with it most notably the glass which just doesn't quite behave as glass should in relation to having a sense of thickness and in its shadow casting. Oh well .. perhaps I'll get it right another time.

The gherkin texture uses a fake subsurface scatter shader - theres a link in the May competition thread in the truespace forum.

Looks great! The cucumber texture looks very, very nice. When I make glass bottles and vases and such, I draw the cross section (outer and inner walls, too), then I lathe it. This gives a nice thickness to the object. I wonder if this worked better than the Boolean method you and others talked about in the forum; maybe you would like the results better. Are you using the glass shader?

Actually I experimented with lots of different construction methods - including lathed - which I think this was but I can't quite remember anymore!! Perhaps the glass thickness should be greater - I tried these things but didn't get the results I wanted. Like I said perhaps I'll get it right another time.
