Description

Here is the promised collage showing step by step the birth of the butterfly. The first three image shows the caterpillar stage. The first one was shot on the actual location where I found it and the next two images are from the basked where I kept it with it's diet of the leaf. Image 4 from left is the preparation by the catapillar to form a cocoon. The 5th one is the catapillar fully covered and formed into a cocoon for nature to take it's course. In the second row, I opened the covering basket as I woke up to discover a beauty sitting in where the cocoon was. Image 2/ Second row is the butterfly moving it's wing for the first time. It was really very interesting stage and I was unable to capture it in a still image. It kept batting it's wing as if learning to move it and take a flight. The first attempt of it's flight, it went and sat on the edge of the basket. After few more batting with the wings, it landed on the flower which was nearby in the room in a flower vase. From there to the wall, another stop then my cloth and by this time the door was open and off it went and gave me a wonderful pose on the hedge. The last and final image is the last and final lap by the butterfly as you can very well see, it is flying off. I din't want to chase it and nurse it any further for I wanted nature to take it's own course and I am sure it survived it's time. Thanks!! Thanks a lot to all the viewers who viewed the earlier image and showed their appreciation to my work. :O)) SNAKEY

This is terrific. You've become a science nut now. If I remember right, the caterpillar spins a chrysalis and it is pumping fluid into it's wings when it is batting them. My kids love watching them "hatch". Excellent!
