Very nice, the best I've seen so far on this site. Admittedly I've only been looking around for an hour or so, but I've yet to see anything come close. The only thing that I can think of working on would be the stairs, but even as it is now its fine.

Yeah, this is good, the palette is great. I don't know if it's the feeling you were aiming for but i think its creepy, creaking floor boards of something moving around out of sight. Do another version from a different angle with a shadow of a figure being cast into view.
