Description

This is a detail of the fresco that I showed as a whole yesterday. Three women lie down in an abstract landscape that seems to have the qualities of water (you can see the bubbles). The woman with the black hair is almost certainly a symbolic representation of the Moon. She holds a big white sphere, and notoriously, the Moon and the Water are strictly bound as symbolic elements (for obvious reason). What's more, the building celebrates the thermal waters as source of health and beauty, and the Moon is the symbol of the feminine beauty: pale (as it was fashionable in those times), seductively unreachable, and eternal. The exotic birds come back here, after they've been overpresent in the main wall triptych (that we have seen in the previous days). They not only enhance the exotic elements, but also introduce the theme of the Eden (exotic birds, and above all the parrots, are characteristic of many pictorial representation of Eden, or of the mythical Golden Age of humanity, because they feature the full spectrum of colours, just like the happiness which, in the Eden, was complete. Tomorrow I will post a second detail of this same fresco. Thanks for viewing! :-)

I've been waiting for this...it is extremely inspiring. I have several books on Art Nouveau and Jugendstil , but I never saw this bguilding mentioned. And no book can guide us the way you do. Thanks!
