Description
Apo
The Phoenix was a fabulous mythical Arabian bird
said to be as large as an Eagle with brilliant scarlet and gold plummage and a melodic cry. It was said that only one Phoenix existed at any one time, and it was very long lived. No ancient sources gave it a life span of less than 500 years. As its end approached, the Phoenix made a nest of aromatic branches, set it on fire, and was consumed in the flames. From the ashes, or according to some, from the midst of the flames, miraculously sprang the new Phoenix, immortal.

I love the legend, and your flame composition and presentation is dramatic and most beautiful!

Can smell the sandalwood. Always a time of sadness... and then of rejoicing when the phoenix begins a new cycle... Believe you have created a composition that relates well to that combo of emotions.

Gorgeous rendering of a phoenix, Randee, and thanks for discussing the symbolism. The phoenix's tears are also thought to be healing.

Thanks to all. It was also said that The Phoenix was nourished by only dewdrops. Just a little more of the story.
