Description

This image was inspired by the painting "Death Loves Me" by Todd Lockwood. I was practice my painting and I took some liberties with Mr. Lockwoods original idea... I found this today while looking for something else in my backups. I was torn when I first posted this because it was based on someone elses work, but now I seem strangely attached to it. This is a repost of an image I did in 2002. ~ character texture by me and the background was a combination of textures from R055 and a bump map. thanks for viewing...

"The Onion, the magnificent and much maligned onion, is yet another of the greatest herbs known to man, with a great variety of uses. The juice can be used as a diuretic or an expectorant, can be mixed with honey for hoarseness and coughs, and can be applied to suppurating wounds. The onion helps to end putrefactive and fermentation processes in the gastrointestinal tract. A half onion cut small and eaten with bread can relieve gas pains and heartburn. It strengthens the heart and lowers blood pressure. Thought by some to be an aphrodisiac, oddly enough, the onion has been known to restore sexual potency impaired by illnesses or mental stress. It is also rumored to bolster courage, protect the home, and ward off leeches." Extrodinary bit of work, especially to make the onion alluring.

I am so glad you reposted this because it has always been one of my favourites. Based on another work or not, John, I happen to believe there is significant value in "copying" a master work, because there is so much you can learn in the process. The mood, lighting, and painting here are extraordinary. It's one of my favourites. :)
