Description
This is the piece that appears on the cover of "Renderosity: Digital Art for the 21st Century." Thought perhaps folks would like to see how it started out. As most can probably see, the "arteries" started out as a tree photo, which was then modified into 1-bit black and white, and then shifted back to 24-bit RPG and colorized so the tree became solid red.
From there the painting of the face was pretty simple; I added some "rootish" elements at the base of the tree to show the heritage of the picture.
All the work was done in PhotoPaint 8. The surprise came when it was chosen for the cover of the book, especially given all the wonderful alternatives that can be found here at Renderosity.
