Description

My entry in the Imagine rendering contest in 2001, rendered in Imagine for Windows 2.0, the theme was "Knives" The knife pictured here is called an "Athame". An Athame is a witches knife used to direct and focus energy. It is never used for cutting. This Athame is the design I would like to make for my own, but I lack the manual skills...... 3D will have to do for now :) The Athame was almost completely modelled in the Forms Editor and the texturing was done with a lot of bitmaps and blended textures. For the lighting I attempted to fake global illumination, and with over 200 soft shadow casting lights, it took about 8 days to render on my Celeron 500. The picture was rendered in 4 different passes and composited in Photoshop where levels etc were tweaked. Overall I think it turned out ok, but would have liked to do a few more things...... unfortunately I didn't have the CPU power or the time to do them.

I personaly think youve done a great job with it and I think the athame is of great desightn I like the simbols up the side well done!
