Welcome to my little corner of Renderosity. I am interested in many things besides art, for example, languages. I read 15 languages, and I have 140 languages on my web site. I don't really write other languages, though, so don't be surprised if I leave a broken comment for you. :) Please feel free to leave me a comment in another language, too.
Prints of my art can be purchased at deviantARTBIOThese days, my entire life is gathered around art in some form or another. I have a bachelor's degree in art, which I chose so I wouldn't have to sit in a classroom all day listening to people talk. :) I got very serious about art after the last of our seven children left home. Prior to that, I was busy homeschooling them. Besides visual arts, I love to make music. I play piano, organ, recorder (a wooden instrument somewhat like a flute), and classical guitar, and I sing. In the past, I have also played gamelan (a gamelan orchestra consists of sets of tuned metal gongs and bells with a couple of drums, and originated in Asia in places like Bali), I rehearsed for awhile with the local balalaika orchestra, playing autoharp, and I have studied with Xochimoki, a Latin American native musical group. In addition to music, I practice the martial art of taekwondo. I have a second degree black belt. Concrete art for me includes pottery (I sometimes design my own glazes, and I especially love raku), a little bit of sculpture, needlepoint (I use fancy yarns and stitches and sometimes invent my own), macrame, circular weaving, and I draw in color pencil. I also like to design artistic web sites. I have a passion for photography, and I am slowly working my way through scenic sites in Arizona and neighboring states. In digital art, I make art in Terragen, Bryce, Vue d'Esprit, Ultrafractal, Xenodream, and Apophysis. I am trying to learn Mojoworld. In addition to my sponsor site, you can see more of my art at my professional site: Extraplicity. Prints of many of my images are available at deviantART.
Spiritually, I am an heiress to the wonderful doctrinal legacy of Martin Luther, and a joint heiress with Christ. Soli Deo Gloria.

Ein sehr sches Bild Pat! Vielleicht hte man den Hai und Rochen ein bisschen an die Wasserfarbe anpassen sollen, um den Eindruck zu verstken, dass sie weiter entfernt sind.

This is a beautiful underwater scene Pat! I love the depth and the fish are really pretty! The water looks perfect with the shadows and the lighting is great! V :)

@ me109: believe it or not, I did drastically change the color of the shark to make him seem further back in the water. Perhaps I didn't change it enough.
Dixiem47
I like this the colors are just wonderful the POV is very nice and all the PW is very well done.
Alpo
Excellent! Great idea! I like how you simulated the water with a thick blue atmosphere. :D

Excellent pic !
criss
You find an excellent atmosphere for underwater view!

Sehr sche Unterwasseratmo und prima pw. :-)
EoinArmstrong
Super atmo setting - well done! Love your fishies! Pat - try a 'screen' (rather than 'normal') blend mode for objects in the distance in water

I believe heartland is made by joshus_hund. I agree about the shark, and I would do more than just change the color to simulate distance. . .try reducing the opacity of the layer a tiny bit, or adding a little blur. . .or something. Nice work on the whole here though, great atm
martinjbirk
very beautiful image. you could add some caustics on the ground and some stronger lightrays to make it perfect !!

Folks, thanks for all the suggestions. I used PSP 5 for the postwork, which doesn't have all those blend modes. I have tried to figure out the blend modes in PSP 8 with no success. I shall work on it more.

Very cool Pat...I love it!!
JPSoft
The result is excellent.

Again an "excellent" pic with so much nice comments ? Sorry, that doesn't look like an underwater scene, too much bright, terrain doesn't fits to underwater mood, and postwork needs a lot of work !

Beautiful work Pat. I'll bet you are going to make more of these aquascapes. I like those 'Blue Discus' in the foreground. I nearly bought a pair many years ago. You have done an excellent composition here Pat.
Arterian
Really nice effect Pat all you need now are some bubbles! Excellent job!
Simplicity
I love this.

I have a pair of the blue turquoise discus in my 4 foot tank at home. Ecologiolally those fish in your image don't come from the same waters. A fun image none the less.
PatGoltz
@ Saurav: I know. But I was having fun, and it's just an imaginary image anyway. :) I have also keept discus. @ various: fish in the sea don't ordinarily produce bubbles. I would have liked to get rays in the picture, but it didn't work out that way. It was too deep. :) @ joshus_hund: thanks for the terrain!
tallpindo
Murky with decayed organic matter the sea teams with fish slow and stopped.
